Here's a simple recipe for homemade apple juice:
Ingredients:
- 6-8 medium-sized apples (use a mix of sweet and tart apples for best flavor)Water
Instructions:
Wash and core the apples, but do not peel them. Cut them into quarters.
Place the apple quarters in a large pot and cover them with water.
Bring the water to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce the heat to low and let the apples simmer for about 20 minutes or until they are soft and falling apart.
Remove the pot from the heat and let the apples cool for a few minutes.
Use a potato masher or fork to mash the apples in the pot until they are completely broken down.
Strain the apple pulp through a fine-mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean bowl, pressing on the solids with a spoon or spatula to extract as much juice as possible.
Discard the solids and transfer the apple juice to a pitcher or bottle.
Serve the apple juice chilled or over ice. Store any leftover juice in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
