Shami kebabs are a popular Pakistani and Indian appetizer made with ground meat and spices. Here's a recipe to make them at home:

Ingredients:

  1. 500g minced beef or lamb
  2. 1 cup chana dal (split chickpeas), soaked for at least 2 hours and drained
  3. 1 onion, finely chopped
  4. 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  5. 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  6. 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  7. 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  8. 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  9. 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  10. Salt to taste
  11. 1 egg, lightly beaten
  12. Oil for frying

Instructions:

In a large pot, add the minced meat, soaked chana dal, chopped onion, ginger-garlic paste, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt.

Add enough water to cover the ingredients and bring to a boil over medium-high heat.

Reduce the heat and let it simmer until the water has evaporated and the chana dal is cooked through.

Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Transfer the mixture to a food processor and blend until it becomes a smooth paste. You may need to add a few tablespoons of water to help with blending.

Transfer the paste to a mixing bowl and add the beaten egg. Mix well.

Shape the mixture into small patties or kebabs.

Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.

Fry the kebabs in the hot oil until they are crispy and golden brown on both sides.

Remove from the pan and place them on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil.

Serve hot with mint chutney or your favorite dip.
