Siri Paye is a traditional Pakistani breakfast dish made with the trotters or feet of a cow or goat. It is a flavorful and hearty dish that is perfect for cold winter mornings. Here's a recipe for Siri Paye:

Ingredients:

  1. 2-3 cow or goat trotters (paye)
  2. 1 large onion, chopped
  3. 2-3 garlic cloves, minced
  4. 2-inch piece of ginger, peeled and grated
  5. 1 tsp. cumin seeds
  6. 1 tsp. coriander seeds
  7. 1 tsp. red chili powder
  8. 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
  9. Salt to taste
  10. 3-4 cups of water
  11. 1 tbsp. ghee or vegetable oil
  12. Fresh coriander leaves, chopped
  13. Green chilies, sliced
  14. Lime wedges

Instructions:

Clean and wash the trotters thoroughly under running water. Soak them in cold water for at least 30 minutes.

In a large pot, heat the ghee or vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and fry until golden brown.

Add the minced garlic, grated ginger, cumin seeds, coriander seeds, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Fry for a few minutes until the spices are fragrant.

Drain the trotters and add them to the pot. Fry for a few minutes until the trotters are browned on all sides.

Add enough water to cover the trotters, bring to a boil, and then reduce the heat to low. Cover the pot and simmer for 3-4 hours until the trotters are tender and the meat falls off the bone.

Once the trotters are cooked, remove them from the pot and set aside.

Using an immersion blender or a food processor, blend the remaining broth until smooth.

Return the trotters to the pot and add the blended broth. Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat to low. Simmer for another 20-30 minutes until the broth is thickened and flavorful.

Serve hot with fresh coriander leaves, sliced green chilies, and lime wedges.

Enjoy your delicious Siri Paye breakfast!
