Falooda is a popular dessert beverage that originated in Persia but is now widely enjoyed in South Asia. It is a refreshing, sweet drink that is made with a combination of milk, ice cream, vermicelli, and flavored syrups. Here's a delicious falooda recipe that you can try at home:
Ingredients:
- 1/4 cup vermicelli (falooda sev)
- 2 cups milk
- 2 scoops vanilla ice cream
- 2 tbsp rose syrup
- 2 tbsp sabja seeds (basil seeds)
- 1 tbsp chopped nuts (pistachios, almonds, cashews)
- A few strands of saffron (optional)
- Sugar as required
- Ice cubes as required
Instructions:
Soak the sabja seeds in 1/2 cup of water for 30 minutes. The seeds will swell and become gelatinous.
Boil the vermicelli in a pot of water for 5-7 minutes, or until it becomes soft and translucent.
Drain the vermicelli and rinse it with cold water.
Boil the milk in a pot over medium heat. Add sugar to taste.
Once the milk has boiled, turn off the heat and let it cool to room temperature.
Add rose syrup to the milk and mix well.
Add a few strands of saffron to the milk, if using.
Take a tall glass and add a few ice cubes to it.
Add 2-3 tbsp of the boiled vermicelli to the glass.
Add 1-2 tbsp of the soaked sabja seeds to the glass.
Pour the rose-flavored milk into the glass, filling it halfway.
Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream to the glass.
Add another layer of vermicelli and sabja seeds on top of the ice cream.
Pour the remaining milk over the vermicelli and sabja seeds, filling the glass to the top.
Garnish with chopped nuts and serve chilled.
Enjoy your delicious homemade falooda!
